DESCRIPTION: These chocolate brown telial patches are found on the lower leaf surface and are somewhat circular in appearance. The colour can appear grey and powdery due to germination taking place in situ. SPORES: Teliospores are 1 septate, brown, thick walled and pinched in the middle (Link). HABITAT: On leaves of Red and White Campion as well as Thyme Leaved Sandwort and other members of the Caryophyllaceae group. SEASON: Late summer to early autumn. |
